Capt. Maoz Israel Recanati, 24, Killed in Southern Lebanon Combat, Posthumously Promoted

Capt. Maoz Israel Recanati, 24, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon, and the IDF posthumously promoted him from lieutenant to captain.
The military did not say when he was fatally wounded; the Prime Minister’s Office said the Itamar native was due to marry his fiancée in about a month.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Recanati a heroic fighter who led his soldiers courageously and said Israel was mourning his death.
The announcement follows other recent Lebanon combat deaths: Staff-Sgt. Negev Dagan, 20, was killed Friday by Hezbollah mortar fire near the Litani River, and reservist Alexander Glovanyov, 47, died after a Hezbollah drone strike near the border.
