Massachusetts State Police said Elizabeth "Lizzie" Dankert, 24, was killed when a recreational powerboat hit a pier near a Logan International Airport runway around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Freedom Boat Club owner Brunswick said Dankert and friends allegedly took the vessel without authorization after the club had closed, outside normal operating protocols.
Boston EMS and Massport fire crews pulled four people from shoreline rocks in darkness and slippery conditions; driver Lawrence Shieh, 40, and two 23-year-olds were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Union College said the former soccer player was an exceptional student-athlete, while the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office continues investigating the crash.
