A Blairmore constable spotted a red fox carrying five or six full hot dogs in its mouth, prompting Alberta RCMP to post the photo online as a mock “BBQ theft” case.
Thousands shared the image after Tuesday’s post, with commenters joking that the suspect was framed and deserved leniency for “extreme cuteness.”
RCMP said the fox was “released without conditions — and a full belly” after it ran back into nearby woods; police do not know where the hot dogs came from.
The sighting came a week before Victoria Day, when barbecue season ramps up in Canada, and police said other wildlife may also target picnic food as camping season begins.
