Apple is reportedly preparing its first foldable iPhone for a September 2026 unveiling alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, though the foldable could ship as late as December.
The rumored iPhone Ultra would open to a 7.8-inch display from a 5.5-inch outer screen, use a thinner 4.5mm design, and swap Face ID for Touch ID because of space limits.
Apple is also said to split releases into two waves: Pro models and the foldable in September, then the base iPhone 18, 18e and likely Air 2 in March 2027.
That staggered plan comes as Apple reportedly trims the standard iPhone 18 to cut costs, with AI-driven demand for RAM and storage pressuring the broader tech supply chain.
Pricing could mark the biggest shift: Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says the foldable may top $2,000, far above Apple's current Pro models and rival foldables from Samsung and Google.
