Rp18,000 per U.S. dollar could be breached by the end of May, analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi said, with the rupiah at risk of sliding as far as Rp22,000 if external pressure persists.
Rp17,600 was briefly touched in Friday morning trading on May 15, showing the currency already under strain from mounting global uncertainty.
