Indiana certified two razor-thin Republican Senate primaries on May 15, opening the door to recount petitions in District 23 and District 15.
District 23 incumbent Spencer Deery kept a three-vote lead over Trump-backed Paula Copenhaver after Tippecanoe County certification, and local officials said they are preparing for a recount even though no formal request has been filed.
Allen County certified District 15 incumbent Liz Brown, also endorsed by Trump, as the winner by 14 votes over Darren Vogt, who was backed by U.S. Sen. Jim Banks.
Candidates can seek recounts until noon May 19, while party chairs have until noon May 22 under Indiana law.
The close races capped a broader Trump effort to punish Republicans who opposed 2025 congressional redistricting; his endorsed challengers unseated incumbents in five other Senate districts.
