Monday is forecast to bring Iowa’s most widespread severe weather, with storms likely redeveloping by afternoon and evening after morning activity clears.
A front moving into the state is expected to recharge the atmosphere and support large hail, damaging winds, a higher tornado risk and heavy rain.
Saturday and Sunday also carry storm threats: scattered storms may form near and south of I-80 Saturday evening, while Sunday’s strongest storms should enter from Nebraska into northwestern Iowa before weakening eastward.
Rain totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely through Monday, with isolated spots topping 5 inches and localized flash flooding possible, especially in urban areas.
Storms should exit Monday night into Tuesday morning, ending a stretch of repeated severe-weather rounds across the state.
