ASML signed a memorandum of understanding with Tata Electronics to supply technology for a planned 300 millimeter—12 inch—semiconductor foundry in Gujarat.
The deal is aimed at accelerating India’s push to build domestic chip-manufacturing capacity, a strategic priority as the country seeks to reduce reliance on imported semiconductors.
The agreement was announced Saturday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Netherlands, linking the project to broader efforts to deepen India-Dutch ties.
For ASML, the partnership extends its role in a new fabrication project in India; for Tata Electronics, it adds a key technology partner to a flagship manufacturing buildout.
