Ray Dalio said China’s growing wealth and influence are pushing the world into a new “tribute system” era, with countries increasingly recalibrating how they deal with Beijing and Washington.
On Bloomberg Television’s Wall Street Week, the Bridgewater founder said the shift is being driven by a perception that the US is losing credibility as a power willing to fight to defend its interests.
That changing perception, he said, is altering the balance of global influence as China gains standing and the US appears less reliable to allies and partners.
