NASCAR will stage Sunday’s All-Star Race at Dover with two 75-lap segments before cutting the field to 26 for a 200-lap final sprint.
The format adds a twist by inverting the top 26 after Stage 1, forcing early leaders to fight back through traffic in Stage 2 for one of six transfer spots; one more berth comes via fan vote.
Dover hosts the All-Star Race for the first time on May 17 at 1 p.m. ET, with 19 drivers already locked into the final segment, including Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell.
Hamlin enters as the betting favorite at +370, ahead of Larson at +550 and Chase Elliott at +650, while analysts flagged Larson, Bubba Wallace and Ty Gibbs as value plays.
Officials are also carrying Bristol’s 750-horsepower engine and left-side tire package to Dover and adding resin and rubber to widen grooves, with warm 86F weather and only a 10% rain chance expected.
