Hennepin County sheriff’s officers arrested performer Robby Roadsteamer at a Minneapolis anti-ICE protest in January and held him for 27 hours, one of three detentions he says he faced in six months.
49-year-old Rob Potylo said the arrest badly aggravated his advanced polycystic kidney disease, leaving him unable to function for more than a week after the detention.
Potylo plans to sue over all three detentions and has raised nearly $200,000 through GoFundMe drives to cover legal costs tied to his protest performances.
About 1.1 million followers now track Potylo’s satirical anti-MAGA videos, which turned a long-struggling Boston performer into a national protest fixture despite mounting legal and health risks.
