May 21 is the date set for an international AI conference at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, organized by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication for World Day of Social Communications.
“Preserving human voices and faces” is the theme, framing talks on AI’s impact on individuals, communities and nations with participants from academia, institutions, tech and journalism.
Paolo Ruffini and Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça will open the daylong event, which is being held with the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the John XXIII Foundation.
The conference is meant as a response to Pope Leo XIV’s call to orient technological innovation toward communication as a core human gift, giving the gathering a broader ethical focus.
