Bryson DeChambeau closed with three straight birdies but still shot 1-over 71 on Friday, finishing 36 holes at 7 over and missing the PGA Championship cut.
The early exit fit a boom-or-bust major run: in 10 starts since the start of 2024, DeChambeau has posted six top-10s—including the 2024 U.S. Open win—but four missed cuts.
Five of the world’s top 13 players failed to reach the weekend, with Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley and Robert MacIntyre all ending at 5 over, while J.J. Spaun and Sepp Straka finished 6 over.
Other notable departures included Garrick Higgo at 5 over after a second-round 76, Viktor Hovland at 6 over, Adam Scott at 8 over and Max Homa at 12 over.
