PGA of America Weighs Pin Changes at Aronimink as 4-Under Lead Survives 36 Holes

Friday’s pin placements at Aronimink drew enough criticism that the PGA of America is considering weekend setup changes after players said some hole locations were excessively difficult.
Scottie Scheffler called them the hardest pins he has seen on the PGA Tour, and the concern is that inaccessible flags push players to the middle of greens, reducing shot separation and turning the test into a putting contest.
Aronimink has still held up strongly through two rounds—cool weather, shifting wind, firm fast greens and long rough left the halfway lead at just 4 under.
Scheffler remains a central threat at 2 under, two shots back, with firmer weekend greens expected to favor his distance and spin control if he drives it better than he did Friday.
The leaderboard also mixes first-time major contenders such as Maverick McNealy and Alex Smalley with established names including Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, setting up a volatile weekend.
