Two people were bitten by a fox Friday in Chapel Hill near Erwin Road, close to Kirkwood Drive and McGregor Drive, and Orange County animal control officers were trying to locate and safely capture the animal.
County officials said the victims' injuries were not yet clear, and it was still unknown whether the fox was rabid.
Orange County urged residents to watch their surroundings, avoid approaching wildlife, and call 911 if they see a fox acting aggressively or unusually.
