Vegas lost a second-round draft pick and coach John Tortorella was fined $100,000 after the team violated NHL media-access rules following Thursday’s 5-1 series-clinching win over Anaheim.
Tortorella refused to speak to reporters after Game 6, and the Golden Knights also failed to open their locker room under regulations negotiated by the league and players’ union.
The NHL said the punishment followed previous warnings to Vegas, signaling the sanctions were imposed after repeated noncompliance rather than a first offense.
Vegas can appeal in person to Commissioner Gary Bettman’s office in New York next week as the club prepares to face Colorado in the Western Conference final.
