Ohio State said its core home and away football uniforms will carry the Buckeye stripe on the shoulders starting in the 2026 season, expanding a look previously saved for playoff games.
The change extends the stripe from special-use sets to the standard silver-helmet, scarlet-or-white jersey, gray-pants combinations; the detail also appears on the new all-black Tunnel Vision uniforms.
The stripe—previously called the heritage stripe—was worn in 1944-56, 1967-78 and 1988-2005, eras that included national titles in 1954, 1968, 1970 and 2002.
Ohio State last used the look in its 34-23 national championship win over Notre Dame in 2025, after also wearing it in a 2022 CFP semifinal loss to Georgia as a tribute to past title teams.
