A fan who fell into the visiting bullpen during Wednesday’s White Sox-Royals game was hospitalized, and the White Sox said Thursday he appeared to be recovering well.
Video showed the fan going over a roughly 3-foot-high barrier from the front row of Section 105 and landing on the grass-and-dirt area at the west end of the bullpen.
The game was briefly delayed as stadium workers, team medical staff and EMS attended to the fan and removed him on a stretcher; Royals relievers then moved to a far corner of the bullpen.
The incident echoed a similar fall at a Pirates game last year, when a fan plunged nearly 20 feet onto the outfield warning track and was left in critical condition.
