OpenAI Reorganizes 4 Product Pillars as Brockman Unifies ChatGPT and Codex for AI Agents

Greg Brockman formally took charge of all product work Friday as OpenAI reorganized around a single agentic platform that will merge ChatGPT and Codex into one experience.
The overhaul is meant to help OpenAI win the AI agent race and bring agents to ChatGPT scale, while sharpening focus on revenue-heavy areas such as coding and enterprise.
Four pillars now report under Brockman: core product and platform led by Thibault Sottiaux, enterprise industries by Nick Turley, consumer by Ashley Alexander, and infrastructure, ads, data science and growth by Vijaye Raji.
The changes extend last month's leadership reshuffle after AGI chief Fidji Simo went on medical leave, with Brockman, Jason Kwon, Sarah Friar and Denise Dresser splitting product and business operations.
The reorganization also reflects investor pressure to show profits and OpenAI's push to cut back on "side quests" ahead of a potential IPO later this year.
Will OpenAI's ambitious 'GPT-5.5 Super App' and agentic AI pivot help it reclaim enterprise dominance and achieve profitability before its high-stakes IPO?
How might OpenAI's legal battles, governance shifts, and the removal of 'safely' from its mission statement impact trust among enterprise customers and developers?
OpenAI’s 2026 Superapp: Unifying ChatGPT, Atlas, and Codex to Challenge Microsoft and Google in the $852B AI Market
Overview
In 2026, OpenAI made a major strategic shift by launching a unified desktop superapp that brings together ChatGPT, the Atlas browser, and an expanded Codex. This move responds to strong competition, especially from Google, and is based on the belief that a single, cohesive desktop experience is more powerful than separate apps. The superapp creates a comprehensive AI-powered environment, combining web browsing, productivity, and development tools in one interface. By leveraging its large user base, OpenAI aims to make advanced agentic AI capabilities accessible to everyone, streamlining workflows and setting a new standard for integrated AI experiences.
