Koepka opened the PGA Championship with a sub-70 round Thursday at Aronimink, putting the five-time major winner in early contention for a fourth title in the event.
Last year’s off-course strain — including wife Jena Sims’ miscarriage at 16 weeks — “took a toll” on his play, Koepka said, adding that life at home is now “in a much better place.”
That improved personal backdrop has coincided with steadier form after a shaky PGA Tour return from LIV Golf, where he opened the season with a T55 and a missed cut before posting finishes from T9 to T18 when making weekends.
