Judge Summons 2 Departments Over 3-Month Delay in CHI Employment Settlement

Summary
A High Court judge told the Departments of Health and Public Expenditure to attend court in June after no decision was made on approving a mediated settlement between Children's Health Ireland and business manager Anita Little.
Nearly three months after mediation succeeded, Little's counsel said the unresolved approval has blocked her from taking a new job and left the State paying about €20,000 in wages while she does no work.
The dispute stems from Little's claimed dismissal after she resisted instructions to delist 10 patients from CHI's spinal surgery waiting list and then won an injunction halting her dismissal.
Justice Brian Cregan said court time for the injunction hearing had been vacated because the case went to mediation, and warned that if the departments withhold consent the case will be relisted for a full hearing.
