Trussville police arrested Jeffrey Scott Towers, 54, on a reckless manslaughter charge two months after Whitney Harlow Robeson, 22, was fatally shot at a Deer Trail home on March 7.
An extensive investigation led to the arrest, though court records released so far give few details beyond alleging Towers shot Robeson at the home where public records show he and his son lived.
Robeson's death was initially reported as accidental to the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner's Office, according to AL.com, before police announced the manslaughter case this week.
Towers posted $30,000 bail and is due back in court July 22, while his attorneys said he has no criminal history and is not guilty.
Robeson, a Virginia native and recent Auburn University graduate, had just started her dream career in interior design as a trade consultant for RH.
What key evidence turned a reported 'accidental' shooting into a manslaughter charge two months later for the 54-year-old father?
His father is accused of killing his girlfriend. What becomes of the son now caught in this unimaginable family tragedy?
