Fidium Launches 5-8 Gbps Wi-Fi 7 Fiber in Katy, First Texas Market

April marked Fidium’s rollout of upgraded fiber service in Katy, with Wi-Fi 7 and residential speeds of 5 Gbps to 8 Gbps now available.
Katy was chosen as the first Texas market because household growth, remote work, telehealth and streaming are pushing home networks that can carry about 50 connected devices.
Wi-Fi 7 widens wireless capacity and lets devices use multiple frequencies at once, while Fidium’s end-to-end fiber network is built to raise speeds further by upgrading electronics rather than replacing lines.
New 5-gig and 8-gig installations are now being scheduled; upgrades for existing customers usually take about an hour, and new installs can take one to five hours.
Fidium is pairing the launch with a price-for-life guarantee and says the Katy buildout is part of broader infrastructure investment as local connectivity demand rises.
Does Katy's new multi-gig fiber mean the end of slow internet, or will hidden bottlenecks still frustrate users despite advanced technology?
How will Fidium's 'price-for-life' promise and Wi-Fi 7 speeds truly compare to competitors when real-world user experiences are put to the test?
With Katy facing land subsidence, could massive fiber upgrades unintentionally worsen infrastructure challenges—or become the key to smarter urban growth?
