Trump said he discarded Iran’s latest proposal because its guarantees were too weak, insisting any limit on Tehran’s nuclear program must be a “real 20 years.”
Aboard Air Force One, he said he would not consider terms allowing Iran “any nuclear of any form,” hardening his stance after earlier calling the offer “totally unacceptable.”
The 12-day war has crippled Iran’s ability to enrich new material for the foreseeable future, but Tehran still holds about 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium that Washington wants removed.
Trump nonetheless said he expects a deal eventually, adding that Iranian officials told him only the U.S. and China have the equipment to take away what he called “nuclear dust.”
The rejected offer is part of several U.S.-Iran peace proposals exchanged since Pakistan brokered an April 8 ceasefire, underscoring how the war’s aftermath remains unresolved.
