Project Glasswing and Claude Mythos Preview: Revolutionizing Cybersecurity with 181x Faster Vulnerability Exploitation

Overview

In April 2026, Anthropic launched Project Glasswing, a defensive coalition granting exclusive access to its powerful AI model, Claude Mythos Preview, to over 40 critical infrastructure organizations. This decision followed Mythos Preview's discovery of thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities and its exceptional ability to exploit software flaws far beyond previous models. Due to the model's dual-use risks, Anthropic withheld it from public release and imposed strict access and usage controls focused solely on defense. However, Anthropic's refusal to support offensive military uses sparked conflict with the Pentagon and led to a White House directive to phase out its technologies, which Anthropic legally challenged. Meanwhile, consortium members face challenges managing the flood of vulnerabilities revealed by the AI.
