Summary
October 22, 2026 is the release date for Final Fantasy Resonance, a new console-and-PC RPG coming to PS5, PC, Switch, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
Resonance is the first Final Fantasy to use Square Enix's HD-2D style, reworking the first story arc of mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius into a rebuilt console-quality game rather than a direct port.
Square Enix said the game blends classic and modern series elements, including turn-based combat with updated mechanics, airships, chocobos and guest appearances from characters such as Cloud and Tidus.
The announcement extends Square Enix's broader multiplatform push highlighted in the same Nintendo Direct, which also featured Kingdom Hearts and other franchise updates.
