On PC and Meta Quest, that could make it a standout nostalgia-driven VR shooter. But matching a modern spy game such as IO Interactive’s *007 First Light* is a different standard. *First Light* is a AAA production built around current hardware, cinematic storytelling, stealth systems, gadgets, advanced AI, and high-end visuals. It is designed as a broad spy fantasy, not just a shooting experience. A fan port of an N64 game, however polished, is still working from older level design, simpler systems, and the technical limits of a 26-year-old blueprint. The more realistic comparison is not whether *Perfect Dark* VR can beat a new Bond game on scope, but whether it can offer a more immediate and tactile experience in VR. There, it has a real chance. Before July 1, Alex Le Tux plans to release a public version of an unofficial Perfect Dark VR port after an alpha preview drew strong interest.
Graslu00, the GoldenEye 007 world champion, streamed the build over the weekend and called it "the best shooter experience I've had with virtual reality," prompting questions about public access.
The stream used a Vive Pro with Valve Index controllers and showed more of the game in action than earlier footage.
The project is being built for PC and as a standalone Meta Quest app, though Le Tux had previously described it as experimental and not yet ready for release.
