Summary
More than 1.3 million 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles are being recalled globally after Stellantis warned they could catch fire and told owners to park away from buildings or other vehicles.
The risk stems from an electrical connection fault in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring that can overheat nearby combustible material, potentially igniting a fire even when the vehicle is parked.
Nearly 1.08 million affected vehicles are in the United States, with another 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and about 125,000 in other markets.
Stellantis said dealers will inspect the vehicles and, if needed, repair or replace the wiring harness or power steering pump; the company expects a remedy by July.
The automaker said it has received one report of a possible injury linked to the issue, but no crashes or deaths.
