Summary
At least 14 people were killed and dozens wounded in Israeli air strikes across southern Lebanon on Monday, including attacks on Tyre, al-Marwaniyah and Zefta after a Beirut strike a day earlier.
Five people died near a Red Cross centre in Tyre, where eight others — including four paramedics — were wounded and a UNESCO World Heritage Site was damaged; separate strikes killed two in al-Marwaniyah and seven in Zefta.
Hezbollah said it carried out 16 operations against Israeli forces, including destroying two military bulldozers near Beaufort Castle and intercepting an Israeli drone over Iqlim al-Tuffah.
Iran, after announcing an end to its strikes on Israel, warned continued attacks including in southern Lebanon would trigger harsher measures, while Defence Minister Israel Katz said Israel would keep hitting Hezbollah and Beirut's southern suburbs.
Nearly 3,500 air strikes since April 16 have helped drive Lebanon's death toll to 3,637, with 11,188 wounded and more than 1 million displaced, as shelters in Beirut and Sidon hit capacity.

Overview
On June 8, 2026, the conflict in southern Lebanon sharply escalated when Iran issued a stern warning that it would respond with much more severe measures if Israel continued its military strikes in the region. Despite these threats, Israeli leaders, including Defence Minister Israel Katz, made it clear that Israel would not be deterred and would keep operating against Hezbollah in Lebanon. This exchange of warnings and defiance followed ongoing acts of aggression and hostility, highlighting the deepening tensions and the risk of further violence between Iran and Israel in southern Lebanon.
