53.6% corner shooting by the Knicks through the first two games has stretched San Antonio’s defense and reduced Victor Wembanyama’s ability to disrupt shots in the paint.
32% corner shooting by the Spurs has also blunted actions such as Zipper, 4-Out 1-In and Hammer, giving Mike Brown’s defense a second edge from the same tactic.
Alvarado said the approach is demanding because guards and wings must drive first to draw help before spraying passes to the corners, with San Antonio expected to adjust in Game 3.
