Benin's Wadagni Appoints IMF Veteran Aristide Medenou Finance Minister After 8 Years at Ministry

Aristide Medenou was named Benin’s minister of economy, finance and cooperation in a cabinet move announced on state television by new President Romuald Wadagni.
Medenou brings both international and in-house experience: he worked at Benin’s finance ministry from 2014 to 2022 before joining the IMF as an economist.
He returned in 2023 as director-general of the economy at the ministry, positioning him as a familiar technocrat to take over the finance portfolio under Wadagni’s new administration.
