Royal Caribbean Bans Stateroom Door Decorations on Symphony of the Seas Over Safety Risks

Royal Caribbean told passengers on Symphony of the Seas that materials cannot be placed on stateroom doors, corridors or elsewhere inside the ship, tightening enforcement of a long-standing cruise tradition.
The crackdown centers on fire safety and property damage: cruise lines say door surfaces must meet strict fire standards, while tape, glue and command strips can ruin expensive metal finishes.
The notice also shifts risk to passengers, saying any items displayed outside cabins are left at the guest's own risk and the line is not responsible if they disappear.
That has fueled backlash from frequent cruisers who use magnets and signs to identify identical rooms and mark celebrations, even as other lines such as Carnival and Disney already restrict decorations and adhesives.
