Samsung is set to brand its next two book-style foldables as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, with the Ultra name going to the direct successor to 2025's Fold 7.
The plain Fold 8 label is expected to go to a wider, shorter model previously rumored as the Fold 8 Wide, a design that reportedly drops one rear camera.
The Fold 8 Ultra is tipped to add a 5,000 mAh battery, 45W charging and a 50MP ultrawide camera, but not S Pen support, a stronger zoom setup or Samsung's newer 60W charging.
That feature mix could blur Samsung's usual Ultra positioning, especially as the company prepares the Fold 8 line and Galaxy Z Flip 8 for an Unpacked event expected on July 22.
Samsung may also raise foldable prices, extending the pricing approach it used for the Galaxy S26 series.
With its new wider design aimed at Apple, can Samsung's cheaper Z Fold 8 finally make foldable phones a mainstream reality?
Is Samsung's new 'Ultra' foldable truly ultra, or is the company diluting its most premium brand for marketing?
