Fifty-nine percent of Americans say money is their primary source of anxiety in 2026, according to the American Psychiatric Association.
Reshell Smith, a Central Florida certified financial expert, urged consumers to use a “15/24 method” — a 15-minute weekly money check-in and a 24-hour pause before larger purchases.
Smith also recommended taking one concrete financial step, such as renegotiating a debt, automating savings or making a needed call, to reduce stress through action.
Orange, Osceola and Seminole county residents can also dial 2-1-1 for United Way Central Florida’s 24/7 helpline, which connects people with financial and other support services.
