May 22 marked the first meeting of NITI Aayog’s Education to Employment and Enterprise committee, which reviewed labour force participation, youth employment, skill gaps and workforce readiness.
The panel was created under the 2026-27 Union Budget to better align education and skilling with labour-market demand and support India’s goal of a 10% share of the global services market by 2047.
Eight central ministries and departments, four state governments, five industry associations and academic experts joined the meeting, which also examined labour shifts toward non-farm sectors and the impact of AI and other frontier technologies.
NITI Aayog said the committee will meet regularly and develop coordinated, future-ready policy responses with the Centre, states, industry and academia to link education, employment and entrepreneurship.

Overview
The Education to Employment and Enterprise (EEE) Committee, established to align India's human capital with its economic goals, held its first meeting in May 2026 under the leadership of NITI Aayog's CEO. The committee's main focus is to bridge the gap between education, skilling, and employment, ensuring these systems meet the changing needs of the economy. By creating a seamless path from education to employment and fostering opportunities for youth, the EEE Committee aims to leverage India's demographic dividend and support the country's vision of becoming a global leader in the services sector.
