Hundreds of Bibles were handed out outside Wylie East High School on May 19, with radio host Chris Krok leading a gathering that also offered Jesus figurines and bracelets.
The event was organized in response to a February "Why Islam?" table at the school that distributed Qurans, Sharia-law pamphlets and hijabs, triggering parent and student backlash.
Wylie ISD told parents the earlier display violated board policy because religious materials were not reviewed or approved in advance, and said any future distribution must remain off school property.
About a dozen student counterprotesters held signs reading "Love Thy Neighbor, which includes all religions," while organizers said they were sharing Christian faith rather than staging a protest.
The dispute has widened beyond campus: student Marco Hunter-Lopez testified on Capitol Hill on May 13, and the district says the February episode was a procedural breakdown, not religious favoritism.
