M2 said Ubusuna, Hiroshi Iuchi’s long-awaited Ikaruga spiritual successor, has been cancelled after more than a decade in development limbo.
2014 marked the game’s announcement, but M2 showed very little of the project over the years before confirming its end.
Hiroshi Iuchi has also left M2, separating the studio from the designer most closely tied to the project.
Iuchi’s last major project was Night Striker Gear, and the latest report leaves open the possibility that Ubusuna could be revived outside M2.
