1.92 million warlocks were created in Diablo 2 between Feb. 11 and March 11 after the game’s first new expansion in 25 years added the class.
93.4 million hours were logged in that span, underscoring how strongly the expansion revived engagement with Blizzard’s 26-year-old action RPG.
Matthew Cederquist, Diablo’s series lead producer, said players quickly moved from surprise at the new class to testing builds, debating synergies and preparing for the new ladder season.
The surge highlights Blizzard’s broader push to keep older franchises active, even as newer entries and other long-running titles continue receiving support.
